The Album "Härifrån" ( From here)

In 1991 I moved to Älvkarleby. A really small place. In 1995 I got the idea of trying to "find the spirit of Älvkarleby" in a comic strip. 1997 I had managed to find the money to start the project. I was going to make this album together with young people. I visited all the pupils in the 8 th grade, about a hundred. I told the pupils to write about their lifes and the future. Some wrote 2 sentences, others wrote three pages.

I collected these textes into four different stories (there were four classes) . I started to develope the stories together with the pupils. They could comment on the dialogue, the acting and everthing they wanted.
At the day they finished the 9th grade the 70 page album was published ( by Pikkadåll förlag, my own small publishing company).

The newspaper Arbetarbladet wrote "..I haven´t seen the life of you people in Sweden told like this...".

This project was very interesting in many ways. (Even if I am not so very pleased with all of the artwork anymore. ) When I meet the pupils the first time, I said that we where going to make a comic album. I heard afterwards that some didn´t believe me. 1,5 years later the albums was finished. So I told them that everything starts with an idea and then it´s up to you what happens. I hope that helped a few in their life.
